From August to October 2018, 27 applications were received from civil society organizations of Ukraine, which expressed a desire to join the activities of the association, contributing their own potential and resources to increase the economic value of tangible and intangible cultural and natural heritage for the development of communities, heritage owners.
The coalition (network) included 25 associations, including public organizations, charitable foundations and initiative groups. The invitation of CSOs to the All-Ukrainian Coalition of Civil Society Organizations to Support Communities with Heritage was published by ARPI on August 8, 2018. The appeal was addressed to active CSOs that are already working in the field of local development and preservation of cultural heritage. The coalition was initiated and will continue to be united by experienced Ukrainian CSOs - the Agency for the Development of Private Initiative, the Tourist Association of Ivano-Frankivsk Region, the Creative Center of the CCC (Kyiv), the New Generation Public Center (Kherson), the Agency for Sustainable Development of the Luhansk Region (Severodonetsk).
On October 3, 2019, a meeting of partner organizations was held in Kyiv, where representatives of the organizations discussed the possibilities of applying the experience of CSOs participating in the network to promote the entire association, for the preservation of heritage and local development. The partners agreed on joint activities and defined the basic principles of communications.
The network's activities will be focused on expert areas, including improving legislation in the field of cultural heritage, training specialists from among the network participants for advisory support to local communities in activities related to the development of the economic potential of heritage, as well as on the promotional and lobbying activities of the network.
The association’s immediate plans include communicating the network’s valuable content through its own communication and information resource, preparing the network’s basic documents, including network ethics, principles of activity and participation criteria, and an action plan.
The Network’s experts have begun preparing the first reporting document on the problems of legislative regulation in the field of management and use of heritage sites. The association’s immediate plans include conducting training and a study tour for network participants to developed heritage sites (including the Vygodska Narrow Gauge Heritage Center) and presenting the network and its first results during the Conference in Kyiv.
The Network’s activities to support communities with heritage are carried out within the framework of the initiative of the Private Initiative Development Agency with co-financing from the British Embassy in Ukraine.
The network is open, and Ukrainian CSOs can join it in the future. The application for filling out is available to potential partners at the link.
