The International Conference "Development of e-government in Ukraine: towards to democratic and transparent cities" took place in Ivano-Frankivsk on February 5, 2014. It was the final event of the I-st Stage of the project "Support and development of e-government in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast '.

The conference organizers were presented by the Academy of e-government in Estonia, in partnership with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development, and were aimed to discuss international experience and vision for the development of e-government in the Prykarpathian oblast.

Among the participants were Estonian and Swedish experts in the field of information and communication technologies, the members of organizations from our oblast as well as from the other regions of Ukraine, working towards to implement the e-government tools, representatives of international technical assistance organizations, officials of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and authorities of the local governments from three pilot cities, which were implemented in the project. (Ivano-Frankivsk, Dolyna, Kalush) and representatives from Lviv city.

The experts of Academy of e-government and officials from the Estonian city of Tallinn (director of Academy - Arvo Ott, a former vice mayor of Tartu - Hanes Astok, head of the city administration of Tallinn - Toomas Sepp ) shared the present "electronic" achievements. Swedish IT expert Victor Milkvist presented the experience in using tools of e-governance in Stockholm. Among other things the Handbook of e-governance for local government, which contains besides the examples of already implemented successful developments, also the practical recommendations for optimal use of ICT in the life of cities, was presented.

The officials and IT professionals from the pilot cities and Lviv city briefed the members of the conference with their own developments and outlined the priorities and opportunities for further cooperation. Thus, due to the project, which will last until June 2015, is planned to introduct the electronic documents management system for the municipalities of Ivano -Frankivsk, Kalush cities, Ivano- Frankivsk Regional State Administration, GIS system in Ivano –Frankivsk city and in the nearest future - for Kalush and Dolyna. Calls Center Service (call- center) is going to be provide in Kalush, Mobile Applications (application for mobile devices as smartphones and other gadgets) in the three pilot cities.

The project "Support to the development of e-government in Ivano -Frankivsk Oblast" is aimed to develop the potential of the Ivano- Frankivsk region in the implementation of information and communication technologies to improve the transparency of governance and strengthen of local democracy , for serving as an example for the central government. In the future, the best practices of implementation the e-governance technologies will spread to over the other regions of Ukraine. The project is focusing its attention on the three pilot cities of Ivano- Frankivsk Oblast Kalush, Dolyna cities and Ivano –Frankivsk city as it self.

The associated project partners in Ukraine are: Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration, NGO "Agency for Private Initiative", Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development.
