The Youth Studios of the Agency for the Development of Private Initiative are preparing a team of law students of the PNU for the international arbitration tournament on trade and commercial law – ICC Lex Mercatoria.

The tournament will be held on November 25-28, 2016 in Minsk (Belarus). Its organizers are BILA (International Law and Arbitration Association) and the world-famous law firm Baker and Mc.Kenzie, with the support of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

This is an international educational event aimed at the development and formation of a modern successful lawyer, stimulating the study of international private law and popularizing international commercial arbitration as an alternative method of resolving commercial disputes. The competition is held in English in the form of a training arbitration session, as close to reality as possible. The training case is based on the materials of several real cases from the practice of the ICC International Court of Arbitration.

This year, students of the Law Institute of the Precarpathian National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk (PNU) will represent the Western region of Ukraine for the first time at ICC Lex Mercatoria, registering their own team for participation: Iryna Fedorovych (4th year), Natalia Adamovych (4th year), Kostiantyn Yash (3rd year), Yuriy Marushchak (5th year).

These are active participants in the "Youth Studies" direction of our organization and some of the best representatives of the PNU student community, whose arsenal already includes several international competitions in law, including "Model EU" (Ukraine, 2015), the International Competition on Mediation and Negotiations (Lithuania, 2016), international debate tournaments in EU countries (2014-2015), the International Conference of Legal Clinics V4+Ukraine and the All-Ukrainian School of Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skills (2016), etc.

We are confident that the acquired knowledge and experience of arbitration as an alternative solution to economic disputes, the contestants will be able to use for civilized resolution of disputes between business entities. This, in turn, will allow to break the negative trends in modern judicial proceedings and promote fair and legal resolution of commercial disputes.

To participate in the competition, the team must pay a registration fee, independently cover transportation costs and accommodation and food expenses, which in total amounts to 18,000 UAH. (eighteen thousand hryvnias).
