On May 16, 2013 in Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration took place a panel discussion "Economic cooperation between Ivano-Frankivsk region and the United States: past experience and future opportunities". The discussion was held within the framework of American Days in Ivano-Frankivsk.

The organizers of panel discussion were U.S.-Ukraine Business Council in cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and the Executive Committee of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council. Panel discussion was attended by business leaders, international NGOs, local executive authorities, higher education establishments, members of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (Chevron, Cub Energy, DLA Piper, Ernst & Young, Squire Sanders, CRDF Global and others).

During the opening speech, the U.S. Ambassador in Ukraine John Tefft noted that the embassy established effectivecooperation with the Precarpathian region during his “tenure”. The ambassador noticed that the head of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration Mykhailo Vyshyvaniuk understands the importance of investments into the region, since this is a factor of success not only for the region but for the whole country. In its turn, the governor drew attention of the audience on the fact that the region is open to cooperation and each investor here will receive support and assistance in the implementation of investment projects starting from the completion of documents required for launching the production and manufacturing of finished products. In the context of the experience and further cooperation between Ivano-Frankivsk region and the U.S., the economic affairs counselor of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine David Mille informed about the possibilities and directions of joint activities.

The director of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development Oksana Fedorovych presented the investment potential of the region, main investment projects as well as center services for the investors, in particular, the mechanism of One-Stop shop, information and resources’ provision. New resources for the investors were also presented by Oksana - investment property database and investment projects of local companies, access to which you can find on a web page of the center as well as investor’s road map - a tool that will help both potential investors and acting entities involved into investment activities to set up and run the investment activity in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

Vasyl Letiuk, deputy chairman of regional STS informed about the practical support for the entities involved into investment activities. There is a new implemented service aimed to help the foreign investors, through which they can minimize the risks of business operations as well as verify the information on the contractors.

Scientific achievements of one of the largest universities in Precarpathian region–Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University - presented Andriy Zagorodniuk, pro-rector on scientific work. In particular, he stressed on the active scientific and research work carried out by the university and cooperation with foreign partners in the development and implementation of infrastructure projects.Andriy has also presented the major innovation developments that are ready for implementation.

Moreover, during the panel discussion the participants had an opportunity to see the positive working experience of local companies– manufacturers of electric cable products, which have the investmentsfrom the U.S. (such companies as Tyco Electronics, Delphi) as well as investment prospects of the U.S. company "Chevron" in Ivano-Frankivsk region. The issue of preparation the Ukrainian businesses for the attraction of foreign investments, technology commercialization aspects and peculiarities of getting U.S. grants were also discussed during the panel discussion.
