Employees of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development participated in 2 working group meetings concerning the discussion of Strategic plan for competitiveness improvement and economic development of Ivano-Frankivsk city for 2011-2015 that were held in the executive committee of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council.

 

Participants wanted to discuss the current state of events implementation within the Strategic plan for the period of its validity from 2011 till 2013. It is expected that during the discussion members of working group should identify the need in corrective actions and provide appropriate offers.

Current results on implementation of one of the areas of Strategic plan "Small and medium-sized business development" were highlighted on February 13, 2014. Head of Support and Business Development Department of Executive Committee Sergiy Rudenko introduced the work made in this area in terms of such strategic objectives as:

  • development of business support infrastructure;
  • support for business activities through systematic actions of government;
  • improvement business staffing;
  • information and marketing support to business

The accent was put on key tasks that need to be improved and close attention to their effective implementation in life, namely:

  • intensification of cooperation between business and government;
  • cooperation of large and small businesses;
  • search of credit and financial resources for business;
  • promotion of local producers;
  • participation of business entities in public procurement;
  • involvement of unemployed to carry out business activities;
  • overcoming of imbalance between the demand for labour force and supply on labour market (between specialties taught in higher educational establishments and vocational training institutions and specialties, which are demanded on enterprises).

During the session of working group devoted to the topic "Attraction of investments into the real sector of economy" held on February 14, 2014 head of Department of Economic and Integration Development of the City (Executive Committee) Bogdan Bilyk informed that according to the results, Ivano-Frankivsk city particularly in 2013 took a leading position in Ukraine in terms of attracted investments. During the period of independence of Ukraine over 280 million USD was invested into the city, of which 70% into the industry (FDI came from forty countries and invested into more than 200 enterprises). He emphasized that regional center is "rich" for highly qualified personnel and has equipped investment facilities (brownfields, greenfields) etc.

On discussion of the topic "Attraction of investments into the real sector of economy" was presented the results of work on implementation of such objectives as:

  • improvement of business climate aimed at investment attraction;
  • development of Khryplyn investment and industrial area and creation of new investment products;
  • maintenance and improvement of positive investment image of the city;
  • creation of support system to local producers and export of products;
  • improvement of product sector competitiveness.

Last year, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development was involved in work on improvement of information and resource support to the investment activity in Ivano- Frankivsk. Thus, specialists of the center together with workers of Industry and Investment Support Department of Executive Committee made a concept of using the free investment production sites on the territory of Ivano- Frankivsk City Council. One of the ways of center activity in the near future will be the creation of standardized forms including information on investment projects/facilities of investment property. The systemized information will serve as a convenient tool for potential investors and other stakeholders. This will let to get the key information on investment projects/proposals available in the region and the regional center as well as investment facilities (brownfields, greenfields). Advanced information in terms of convenience and semantic saturation will be available for public on the web site of Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development.

These and other "investment" plans in work of Ivano -Frankivsk Regional Center for Investment and Development for the near future were discussed with colleagues by the head of "One-Stop Shop" and Project Implementation Department Natalia Kobylchak, she has also shared the ideas concerning this. The attention was paid to the priority sectors of regional economy namely precised machine building. The region has historically formed a favorable environment for the development of precised machine building, instrument making, manufacturing of electronic and electro-technical products. Proof of the development of these industries is a successful activity of electronic and electro-technical enterprises, which are integrated into the international economy (LLC "Electrolux Ukraine", LLC "Tyco Electronics Ukraine Limited", LLC "Microl", SE "Industrial Association "Karpaty") on the territory of the city as well as in Khryplyn investment and industrial zone.
