The activity aimed at development of local legal acts in support to bodies of citizens’ self-organization at local level and capacity building of local community leaders.
Project outputs and results: the Guidelines for the establishment and activities of community organizations (bodies of citizens’ self-organization) in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk and the Typical Charter for bodies of citizens’ self-organization pursuant to Article 13 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Bodies of Citizens Self-organization’ have been developed. A focus group with the participation of civil activists and officials from the local council executive committee has been conducted and the issue on the establishment and activities of bodies of citizens’ self-organization discussed. The focus group revealed the major problems to be resolved locally. The project systematized the best practices describing the bodies of citizens self-organization and their typical problems. Following this activity, the project has developed recommendations that were further approved by the Executive Committee Decision # 63 as of 11.03.2006.
The Agency also held 3 training seminars for leaders of local communities.
